How much oil and what type should i put on bike chain and gears?

got it today and they are completely dry, is that how they are supposed to be nowadaysHow much oil and what type should i put on bike chain and gears?
The chain will have its factory grease on the chain which is the best so leave it for a while before you lube. After that use teflon spray lube like

GT85 or similar.

The wax lubes in my view don't last more than 50 miles each time. You go through it in no time and becomes expensive.

3/1 isn't suitable as its too thick and will pick up dirt and clog up your gears. How much oil and what type should i put on bike chain and gears?
You want to use a good chain oil sold at a bicycle shop. Walmart started selling White Lighting which is a good brand. You always want to clean the grime from your chain before you oil, otherwise you will wash the grit into the chain.

Put a drop of dry teflon lube onto each chain rivet and run it through all of the gears and then dry it off with a rag. Slow but the best way to do it.
Hey Goatsucker the 2nd u didn't say what kind of bike it is, motor or push? if motor buy a chain bath %26amp; boil the chain for 20-30mins if push then any light oil 3-in-1 should do it!
It probably has a dry-film lube. Anyway, little and often is good. Pop into any bike shop and pick-up what catches your eye.
coat lightly with light oil, little and often.Happy cycling.
