Way has my gear box oil?

covered with fine filings and the indentation full of the plug cove rd in a smooth silver paste and i get a grinding sound when i dip the clutch to change gear and when the clutch is risen help me some pleaseWay has my gear box oil?
oh oh, sounds terminal.

likely that a bearing has collapsed or something similarly nasty.

get it to a garage pronto, just incase something can be done before it all grinds itself to bits

if its just the clutch thrust bearing, you might get lucky, but the swarf in the oil will destory every other component in there quite quicklyWay has my gear box oil?
The filings are actually your gear teeth worn off, and plug is magnetic and attracts the smaller finely ground metal and as its mixed with transmission oil its a paste like substance.

It sounds like you have damaged the edges of the gears, so as they mesh they are catching on each other hence the grinding sound. Short of having a new/recon gearbox there is nothing you can do.

Is the noise when you dip the clutch or move the gear lever?

A small amount of metal in the oil and plug is perfectly acceptable, also make sure your clutch cable is adjusted correctly as it might just not be completely seperating the 2 plates.
All gearboxes produce swarf its not a problem most heavy commercial gearboxes have either magnetic pellet in drain plug or mag plates in box to pull this out of the drive train.Does the grinding happen just when you press the clutch or when you try to select a gear.If it happens when you just press the clutch and don't touch the gear lever then its the thrust bearing if its when you select a gear either syncro baulk rings worn, mainshaft bearings worn or the clutch is not fully breaking the drive train. If clutch is adjustable give it a bit more clearance if not sounds like a new clutch
The iron powder that you've found on the magnet is not a problem and is normal.

Most manufactures don't bother put a magnet on the filler plug as owner drivers panic when they see it covered in fillings, Fords install it in the bottom of the gearbox where it's only see when the gearbox is stripped down.

Regarding your noise when you dip you're clutch, does it make a noise if the engine isn't running? If not it sound as if your clutch release bearing is noisy and your clutch may be on it's last legs.
The grinding sound when you depress and release the pedal(ONLY if it does it w/o changing gears-which is how I took your explanation) is likely a bad throw-out bearing- will usually ';shake'; the pedal, also

If it's only happening when you change gears, it's internal trans.repair time ! A little ';paste'; is normal (all trannys will wear some, in order to ';break in';), but if you have slivers of metal, your tranny has internal damage/wear that needs to be addressed, soon !
If your clutch is not engaging then your clutch has gone. Either that or your bearings, pop it into a garage and let them tell you. Make sure you tell them not to do anything without askig you 1st though else you'll end up with a big bill!
Sometimes this is normal

Check your clutch / adjustment
try changing the gearbox oil.
