First, remove the threaded plug where you check the level of oil in the gear box. The car should be on a level surface or vehicle lift. Then stick your finger in the hole and see if the oil comes up to the level of the hole. If not, squirt some oil into the hole from the plastic squeeze bottle that the new oil comes in when you buy it.
Consult your vehicle handbook, that`s where you will find the answer and diagrams showing the way.
The best place usually if you cant see a filler hole is to remove the speedometer shaft and fill it to the required level via the stud. But a garage wouldnt charge you a fortune to do it properly and less messy for you.
in the handbook or ask a skoda dealer they should tell you or info on the web
The first thing you need for this task is a Haynes manual for the vehicle, the vehicle handbook wont cover topping up the gearbox oil as it might require a special tool to remove the plug, next you need to make sure you have the right grade of oil as manufacturers have changed the types of oils used in transmissions as technology developes. make sure the vehicle is on level ground and remove the plug, get a split pin and bend one leg at 90 degrees, then bend that at 90 degrees again about 1'; from the end, this makes a little dipstick that you can stick in to the gearbox and check the level of the oil in the box. If the oil touches the stick your fine as you dont want to overfill the transmission as this will cause excessive pressure and blow seals. If it needs topping up simply add a bit of oil and then check with your dipstick until the oil touches the bottom of the dipstick
