how much gear oil do you put in the case and what type do you use. i do not see a oil level check bolt, just a drain bolt and fill plug. the case says 500 cubic cm. which i think converts to about 16.9 ounces. seems like a lot for a small motor. just wanted to know how much and what type you use.Yamaha yz80 gear oil level and type????? 1998 yz 80?
500 cc sounds about right for a small bike. My (not Yamaha) 125s take 450cc and my 250s take 900.
500cc is in the correct range IMO.

Have you pulled the fill plug to see if it has a dipstick?
