Rider is correct. You should buy a service manual. Your Softail holds 3 quarts of oil, the transmission holds 20- 24oz and the primary holds 1 quart. To check the engine oil, warm up engine ( a 5 minute ride will do), hold bike upright and level, push in dipstick all of the way then pull it out and check level. Trans can be cold, have a friend hold bike upright, set dipstick on the threads, remove to check. Between marks on both sticks is good. Hope this helps.I want to change the engine oil and gear box oil to Harley Davidson softail 1340cc 1999?
Go to the Harley Davidson Riders Club GB website. Join the forum and ask the question there. Make sure you ask in the right forum though. (Modern Era - Evolution, TC88 %26amp; TC96)?? 100% Guaranteed it will be answered quickly and correctly! Link below to cut %26amp; paste. Good luck.

Hey Scarface, the best thing you can buy is a manual to support your service needs!
The info provided in the manual will not only help you but it will give you a better understanding of you bike and will save you a lot on service costs if you have a methodical approach to mechanics and a few tools lying around.
Oil wise, warm your engine up so the the oil will drain from your engine faster and more efficiently.
It's more advisable than doing it cold!
It doesn't have to be red hot though!
If you have your manual it should tell you how much oil you require with a new filter! Always advisable! A filter that is!
Have fun and save some money,
Troy.
I've got a Massey Ferguson tractor owner's manual you could have. I'm sure they're pretty similar?
