Does running low on oil in a Chrysler Town and Country shut the engine off when you put it in gear?

Engine starts and oil light comes on but the engine kills as soon as it's put in reverse.Does running low on oil in a Chrysler Town and Country shut the engine off when you put it in gear?
Probably. Seems you already destroyed your engine, if the light is on.Does running low on oil in a Chrysler Town and Country shut the engine off when you put it in gear?
it could be the neutral safety switch or the torque converter
no
If the oil light is on, shut off the engine. Never run the engine with the oil light on. But no, if it dies when you put it in gear is isn't because of being low on oil.
well, it could because if you run out of oil there will be a lot of friction and the engine will overheat and components will cease and crack.

that sounds more like a tranny problem, but i could be wrong.
No. I have a 2006 town and country and when I changed the oil last I mistakenly left the old oil filter seal on the motor (past dark when changed). Im sure you can guess that that didnt go well but no damage and the motor did not shut off. It sounds like to me it is the anti theft system. Are you useing a key you had coppied at wal-mart or other retailer? orginal? Chrysler new model keys send a signal to the PCM when the car is started. If it is a regular key, the pcm will not receive the signal and run untill put into gear then shut down.
nope.

Low oil pressure sensors will not allow the motor to start.

You may have some issues with a locked up torque converter.
