How do you check gear oil on the rear end of a Dodge Ram 1500??

Thank YouHow do you check gear oil on the rear end of a Dodge Ram 1500??
If you have a Dodge then it will be a rubber plug on the back of the diff cover. You can pull it out with your fingers or if having a hard time get a flat head screwdriver and pry it out. Once out, put your pinkie in and rest first knuckle on the lip of the opening. If you get fluid on the tip of your pinkie it is good if not then you will need to add some. Remember though not to overfill it. Like mentioned in above answers the fluid SHOULD NOT run out. That means it is overfull and could cause seals to go bad. It should be about 1/2 inch below the plug. How do you check gear oil on the rear end of a Dodge Ram 1500??
unscrew the plug inthe hawgs head and if gear oil starts seeping out it is full. If no fluid comes out, then you need to add some. and make sure the vehicle is sitting level when you check the fluid level
usually you take out the plug with 3/8 drive ratchet with extension , with your little finger if you feel any fluid1/8 _1/4 from the hole your o.k. but every body feels them to edge were they are leaking out... the hard part is getting the fluid in there without the proper pump!!! i used a funnel and a hose but takes a long time if it is to low!!!
left side of diff theres a plug open it fulid should just seep out if so its full
if the rearend gear oil sensor light didn't come on then its good
the differential will have a plug on the left side, loosen it and if fluid comes out you have plenty, if no fluid comes out (WALK to the auto store) and get some more gear oil before the vehicle moves again.
