It's GL-4 and GL-5; they're two different specifications. GL-5 is intended for use in high-pressure applications; some GL-5s contain sulfur compounds which can eat away at brass/bronze parts (like synchronizers), and some don't. GL-4 and GL-5 are two different API specs for gear lube. Refer to your owners manual for the correct spec for your application. Generally speaking GL-5 lube can be used in place of GL-4, but don't use GL-4 lube in a vehicle that specifies GL-5.
