I was sold Bel-Ray Gear Saver Transmission Oil when asking to change my oil in the crankcase is this ok?

i am going to put the transmission oil where my motor oil normaly goes in my 2001 yamaha blaster atv,I was sold Bel-Ray Gear Saver Transmission Oil when asking to change my oil in the crankcase is this ok?
yes it is great for 2 strokes like your blaster. i personally use the maxima brand over the bel-ray, gear saver oil. i have been using it for 10 years now. and my bearings, and lower end on all my machine are still like new. and i really help save on clutch wear also. i run the 80 weight synthetic. it is as thin a 5w-30 when cold but protects like 80 weight oil with out being as heavy/thick as conventional 80/90 gearlube.I was sold Bel-Ray Gear Saver Transmission Oil when asking to change my oil in the crankcase is this ok?
First of all, learn something about your ATV before doing ANYTHING to it. And when asking a question, tell if 2 stroke, or 4 stroke. Many of us do not know every detail of every bike/atv on the market. And many do not take the time to look up what it is you have, which is a 2 stroke. The oil you have is correct, but it does not go in the crankcase, it goes in the transmission. You have a small tank for 2 stroke oil which is mixed with the gas, by a small pump. BE SURE this tank has oil. Some vehicles have had the tank/pump removed, and older vehicles did not have them. These vehicles require 2 stroke oil be mixed with the gas. If you do not know where your oil tank is, find it. If you can not find it, go straight to a shop, and ask for help/information. The life of your engine is about 15 seconds after the tank goes dry, if oil mix is used, after straight gas in put in an empty tank. CHECK WITH a local shop ASAP. I do not say this just to scare you, but to save your engine.

Tomcotexas.
First of all, is your engine 2 stroke or 4 stroke? If a two, the transmission is going to be seperate from the engine and you can use it in there. In addition, if a two stroke your engine is going to get it's lubricating oil in with the gasoline and you won't have a seperate crankcase.

If your engine is 4 stroke and the engine and transmission are what's called unit construction, that means the engine crankcase and transmission uses the same oil. Not just the same kind, but the same oil lubricates both at the same time.

If the oil says ';transmission'; oil, I wouldn't be putting it in the engine crankcase. There's a world of difference between the needs of the engine and tranny. If the stuff you have is actually motor oil, there'll be a little round designation on the back that will have letters such as SF,SG,CL etc on the outside portion. If it has that, then you can be assured it's engine oil that just happens to be ok for the tranny as well. If it say something like 80-W-140 or GL5, then it's made for transmissions and differentials and DON'T use it in your engine!
Depends, Did you change to different engine to four stroke?? or its that original engine??

If your engine is two stroke, Yes you can use bel-ray gear tyranny saver in transmission . not on crankcase box. also dont use tranny oil into oil injection tank or premix with gas. I use it all the time on my motocross bikes ( two strokes) .

If four stroke, Don't use it,

Now you told me that you have two stroke oil tank under your seat. That mean your blaster is two stroke engine,

So about the Bel-ray gear saver. Yes you can use for your transmission gear box. That is special blend for your gear box and your clutch system.

I see other people who rejected the answered, They re wrong with thier answer. That is for two stroke gear box with clutch. Also Its not Designed to use for two stroke premix or injector.
